Great shout on Pemberton, God he was gash and I know he's remembered fondly for THEM goals but John Hardiker was pants

Agreed, joe.

If I recall, the thing that most upset many of the County faithful when he left was the prospect of not being able to catch any more glimpses of his girlfriend at EP!

Keith Allen was not the worse ever player............helped Stockport County achieve their first ever title!

"In the 60's we signed this guy called Keith Allen from Grimsby. He was the next best thing to sliced bread (apparently). He was utter gash !!I have just checked his stats. He scored 15 goals in 49 games and I still can work out how.Moved him on to Luton.
Quote from wiki:-
He is particularly remembered by fans of both Luton and Stockport for giving away a penalty at Kenilworth Road when the two clubs met in a Football League Division 3 match on 25/04/1969. A fan in the crowd blew a whistle and Allen, thinking that play had been stopped, caught the ball.Just about sums him up."

Keith is my uncle, and he was a great footballer. In his final season for Stockport 1966/67 he made 23 appearances and scored 6 times playing in the old style inside right position. He made many assists during this succesfull season for Stockport. This was Stockport Countys first league title!
He was sold to Luton town the following season where he helped them gain successive promotion in the 1968 and 1969 seasons from the 4th to the 2nd Division.
He played alongside Bruce Rioch and they were leading scorers for Luton Town during these two seasons.

Unfair that you have pointed him out as "utter gash".....

I am very proud to have had an uncle who was a professional footballer, and I think he needs to be removed from this list

PS He made 271 league appearances and scored 62 goals during his career, so I am not sure how you can include him in this thread?
